A coach from Pembrokeshire joined the million protesters in London on 19 October to call for a public vote on Prime Minister Johnson’s terms for leaving the European Union. The coach picked up supporters in Haverfordwest, Penblewin roundabout near Narberth, St Clears and Carmarthen before heading on to London. Many more Pembrokeshire for Europe supporters had made their own way to join the protest.
Alistair Cameron from Pembrokeshire for Europe said:
“I am delighted that we were able to join so many people from all over Britain to demand a final say on the Prime Minister’s awful deal.
“Boris Johnson’s deal will damage our economy, undermine the NHS and public services, remove vital worker’s rights and reduce environmental standards. This is why we need a People’s Vote which gives us the option of remaining in the EU. We will never get as good a deal as the one we currently enjoy as full EU members.”
“Since joining the Common Market in the 1970s, Pembrokeshire together with the rest of Wales and Britain has benefited through frictionless trade with over 300 million customers in the EU. Our ferries at Fishguard and Pembroke Dock enjoy easy access to Ireland. Also thanks to our membership of the European Union, we benefit from free trade agreements with over 50 countries around the world.”
