Intrepid staff from Action for Children’s North Wales services have taken part in the Wild Wales Challenge, walking in relay from Prestatyn to Chepstow along Offa’s Dyke to raise money for the charity.
Staff and children from Tan y Dre children’s home in Wrexham were among the North Walian contingent to brave the elements as they walked from Clwyd Gate to Llandegla.
Kirstie Holmes, registered manager for Tan y Dre, said: ‘Myself and staff member Heather Jones took on the walk with young people Paige and Lacey along with my baby, Jack. Paige used her girl guiding skills to lead the way and did a very good job as we didn’t get lost! The walk took us three and a half hours in total and had a really lovely day! It was great to get out in the beautiful Welsh countryside and celebrate Action for Children’s 150th birthday together.’
Offa’s Dyke is a national trail that follows the Welsh/English boundary covering around 177 miles and the walk was organised to celebrate Action for Children’s 150th birthday.
Services representing every corner of Wales have donned their walking boots, got lost and braved the rain to complete their sections of the challenge.
