SUCCESSFUL VISIT FOR SANTA
The Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway at Cynheidre are celebrating a successful visit by Santa for a full weekend of seasonal trains at the railway over the weekend of 7th and 8th December.
Over 220 visitors enjoyed Brake Van rides behind resident Sentinel Diesel No. 10222 on our recently extended demonstration line before visiting the great man himself in his grotto, with all children receiving a small gift. Seasonal refreshments were also on offer including Mince Pies and Mulled wine for the adults. One visitor commented ‘We had a great afternoon, and you actually had THE REAL SANTA! Great’. Another said ‘We had a wonderful time down the railway! It was my little boys first ever visit to Santa and we were not disappointed! The staff were incredibly friendly and approachable. We will definitely be returning for other events. Thank you for a memorable morning’. All proceeds from the event will be used to further develop the railway which is run completely by volunteers.
The Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway is now closed until Saturday 28th March 2020, when we open for the first of our monthly running days through the Spring and summer seasons. Full details will be available soon on the following web link https://www.llanellirailway.co.uk The railway is hoping to grow into a major tourist attraction for the Llanelli district and in order to reach our goals we need more volunteer help in all departments including operational, maintenance and restoration, and administration. If you could spare a few hours for what is a most enjoyable pastime and worthwhile cause do not hesitate to get in touch.
