The most wonderful time for a beer!

As it’s the season to be merry (hic!) throughout December Wales Ales will be highlighting the very best of Welsh Festive tipples.  Every year we launch the legendary ‘12 Beers of Christmas’ which is the only fully Welsh Christmas beer pack available.   It represents 12 Christmas beers from all corners of Wales, however now it is more common for breweries to release a number of seasonal beers so we’ll be aiming to highlight as many as we can before the big man arrives.

To start us off we’ve headed to Bridgend to a brewery operating out of their garage, proving that small can be mighty.  Dog’s Window have been creating waves lately with some impressive reviews and feedback on the popular app Untappd due to their experimental and innovative range.  Rather than the conventional and predictable festive darker beer (with some spices) they’ve opted for four offerings of something a little different. Good Boy list 4.6%

A special mango infused Christmas variation of the popular collaboration ‘Good Boy’. A mango IPA with a strong fruity aroma and tropical taste, makes a change from the darker traditional Christmas beers, but only if you’re on the Good List!

Candy Canine 4.6%

They’ve produced a dessert favourite, a raspberry pavlova IPA. Hopped with Styrian Wolf and Styrian Dragon this IPA is infused with raspberry and vanilla flavours with an aroma to savour.

Fairy Dog Mother 5.4%

An American red ale. This beer is all about the malts.  A wonderful malty biscuit flavour shows there’s more to beer than hops. This well balanced beer with Cascade hops has a lovely red hue and superb lingering after taste.

Santa Paws 5.8%

The customer favourite of last year’s Wales Ales ’12 Beers of Christmas’ pack makes a welcome return.  Slightly stronger this is a classic British oatmeal stout infused with natural cherry extract, a roast character with notes of chocolate and almond.  Flavours are reminiscent of Black Forest Gateaux or dark chocolate coated cherries.  Something very special for the winter.

Next up we’ll be looking at the three Yuletide Beers from Bang-On Brewery in Bridgend, designed to compliment the Christmas meal.
