Residents in Carmarthenshire are being reminded that there are changes to bin collections over the festive period.

From Wednesday, December 25 to Friday 27, collections take place two days later than usual. Then from Wednesday, January 1 to Friday 3, collections take place one day later than usual. All other days are as normal.

Remember, the maximum number of black bags you can put out for collection is three a fortnight, so please recycle as much as possible in your blue bags and food waste bins.

Blue bags should be used to recycle all your plastic bottles, cans and foil (such as mince pie cases!), cardboard packaging, wrapping paper and Christmas cards.

Christmas food waste should go in your green food bins so that it can be composted.

Glass bottles and jars can be recycled at glass recycling banks – we have increased provision at some of the busiest bring sites in the county to help recycle all the extra glass produced over Christmas.

Don’t forget there are also changes to recycling centre opening times over the festive period, Trostre (Llanelli), Wernddu (Ammanford), Nantycaws (Carmarthen) and Whitland are closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day; and are open 8.30am to 12noon on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Please separate any recyclable items before you go; Christmas trees, electrical items and batteries can all be composted / recycled at the sites.
