Neil Hamilton, AM for Mid & West Wales, and Leader of UKIP Wales is urging constituents in his Region to nominate their favourite rural business.
Mr Hamilton, a member of the Senedd’s Rural Affairs committee, is backing a call from the Countryside Alliance who are seeking nominations for their prestigious annual awards.
He said:
“These Countryside Alliance Awards, also known as the Rural Oscars, are highly regarded, honouring as they do the skills, tradition, enterprise, produce and people who go the extra mile for their communities.
“They are also driven by public nomination so everyone has the chance to support their preferred business and say why their favourite is worthy of national acclaim, which sets these awards apart from other schemes. As always, I am delighted to support any initiatives which promote and highlight rural ventures.
“Since the awards began 15 years ago, there have been over 100,000 nominations with more than 9,000 rural businesses recognised.
“Here is Wales, we have a most enviable reputation for our products, and I urge everyone to nominate their favourite business and encourage others to do likewise.”
The Countryside Alliance Awards, which is now in its 15th year, celebrate rural businesses that go the extra mile, who support their local economy and are the unsung heroes in every community.
The applicants are judged on a range of criteria including their passion and commitment, sense of community, championing local food and the energy and diversity of their business.
The Regional winners will be invited to attend the Champions Reception at the House of Lords in London in June 2020 where the National Winners will be announced.
The awards have several categories including Village Shop/Post Office; Local Food/Drink; Butcher; Rural Enterprise; Pub; Game Champion; Clarissa Dickson Wright Award.
Being nominated in the Countryside Alliance Awards can have a real impact on rural businesses. Most importantly, those businesses which go on to become finalists or champions, will receive regional and national recognition, strengthening the reputation of their brand.
Nominating in the Countryside Alliance Awards is a chance to celebrate the huge impact rural businesses have on communities, and help them build for even more success in the future.
The deadline for nominations for the Countryside Alliance Awards, has been extended to January 5 2020.
