Following from 2017s Jumanji: Welcome to the jungle, The Next Level brings more action, more adventure and just as many laughs. This time things kick up a notch, as this time, not everybody is playing the same character as before. Those of you familiar with the previous movie, to make things more interesting, the avatar Dr Smolder Bravestone this time is played by Spencer’s grandfather Edie (Danny DeVito) alongside Milo (Danny Glover), Edie’s lifelong friend who’s taking on the game character Franklyn Mouse Finbar. Watching both Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart take on the personalities of two senior citizens shows just how far they’ve both come along as actors. Every few minutes was a laugh, and the entertainment factor from the entire cast deserves the highest praise.
In this sequels returning cast, we see Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillen and Nick Jonas. Joining them for the ride is Danny DeVito and Danny Glover along with Awkwafina who you may remember from 2016s comedy, Neighbours 2: Sorority Rising. This movie, personally for me, is filled with some of my all-time favourite actors. (You can expect nothing but pure gold from everybody and their acting abilities), as the graphics for this Jumanji sequel is visually engaging, and the comedy timing and performance is superb.
As always, Kevin Hart is naturally funny, their’s nothing he says that doesn’t make me laugh. Dwayne Johnson rocks (no pun intended). He’s who pretty much every guy wants to be. I know I do! As for Jack Black. On a bad day, this man-child is someone you can certainly count on to cheer you up. When it comes to Karen Gillen, she certainly is a woman if talent, and fiery beauty. To me, this is why they all blend so well together, which why I love these films so much. I can’t think of anyone that can replace them.
I give Jumanji 2: The Next Level 9/10 so if you want to have two hours of fun and adventure, I’d say this is one movie that should be on your list to watch.
