THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME FOR A BEER (Part 3)

So far we’ve covered four Christmas beers from Dog’s Window and three from Bang-on brewery, both from Bridgend.  To help you battle through various Santa’s Grottos, works parties, last minute present buying and then present wrapping, we’ll be aiming to cover as many Welsh Christmas beers as we can in the run up to the big man’s arrival.

Our next stop on our tour of festive delights takes us to Little Goat Brewery.  Hailing from Pontardawe this new brewery operates out of what was an empty outbuilding of Steff’s beautiful new home in the village of Ynysmeudwy near Pontardawe.  Steff, together with father in law Mark have produced three Yuletide treats, which would be perfect under anyone’s tree!  You can find out more about them at our previous article HERE.

YANKEE DOODLE NANNY 6.5% abv

First up is a bit of a departure from the usual dark winter ales, no spices or maltiness.  This is strong and pale New England style IPA that uses American hops to give it a super hoppy flavour.

SATAN’S LITTLE HELPER 6.66% abv

No this isn’t a typo, it’s a devilishly good 6.66% strong stout.  Strong and dark with a nice bitterness combining dark fruit and raisin flavours.   A beer to have if you’re on the naughty list!

DUFFEL GOAT  7.2% abv

At Wales Ales we love a good pun and in a season full of them we think this takes top place! This time a lovely mahogany coloured strong 7.2% Winter Warmer, alcohol warmth on initial tasting with a lingering aftertaste, guaranteed to warm you up. Time to get your Duffle Goats on.

Next up on our extended ’12 Beers of Christmas’ is Mumbles Brewery with their festive trio of Kiwi Christmas, Golding Balls and a new one called Chocolate Vanilla Porter.
