The brewing industry has its own new-year trend and there are loads of Welsh events coming up to celebrate.
There are all sorts of quirky fads to get involved with in January, to name a few you’ve got the cruelty-free foodie stint of Veganuary, along with every pubs’ worst nightmare – Dry January!!
While Dry January might be good for your liver and your wallet – there’s one trend that actually encourages you to drink beer.
Tryanuary, the volunteer-led campaign that promotes support for the beer industry in January is back for 2020!
Beginning in 2015, the annual campaign is run by people passionate about beer and the industry, who want to help breweries, bars, pubs & other beer venues during the tough month of January.
âWeâre here to help promote the beer industry in Januaryâ said Mike Hampshire, National Campaign Coordinator. âTryanuary is a campaign where we encourage people to continue trying beers after the festive season.â
âEvery year starts the same; many people make New Yearâs Resolutions about improving health & well-being and often the first thing that gets stopped is alcohol consumptionâ
âThis isnât a promotion to encourage irresponsible drinking; beer can be enjoyed as part of a balanced lifestyle all year round and pubs are great community spaces. My slogan at the moment is âRemember, Pubs arenât just for Christmas!ââ
Breweries and beer venues are encouraged to take part by organising events that can be listed free of charge on the Tryanuary website and be actively promoted on social media by organisers using #Tryanuary.
âTo help run this campaign, we have a great team of volunteers. This is a nationwide event, though, so weâre always looking for more people to help out. Even simply mentioning the campaign to those who donât know about it is a big helpâ said Mike.
People who are planning on taking part in Dry January are still encouraged to join in Tryanuary too.
âWeâre seeing a growth in the production and consumption of alcohol-free beers in the UK. There are some fantastic brewery innovators out there making tasty alcohol-free ales, from pales to stouts. Thereâs no reason why Dry January participants canât join in Tryanuary too!â
The Tryanuary campaign runs throughout January, with all sorts of events and promotions. Wales Ales will be producing a special Tryanuary Pack and offering a 5% discount when you use code ‘Try5’ at the checkount on www.walesales.com, Dogâs Window will be releasing a special Tryanuary Beer and the popular Ale Trail will be doing a special early bird deal on their Vale of Glamorgan Ale Trail in April.  Bluestone Brewery will be holding a Tryanuary Event and the Vale of Glamorgan & Bridgend branch of the Campaign for Real Ale will be holding their January meeting at Tomos and Lilford Brewery!
Throughout January we will be listing as many different types of beers you might like to ‘Try’ as well as highlighting the various events and offers available, so keep an eye out for updates. To find out more information and the list of events near you then visit www.tryanuary.com and if you’re a publican or brewery looking to get involved then email wales_ales@hotmail.com
