Save yourself a trip to the tip and sign up for the council’s garden waste collection service.
Garden waste collections will restart on the week beginning March 9.
New customers will be able to apply for the paid-for, seasonal service from Monday, February 17.
Existing customers will have already been contacted advising them on how to continue with or cancel the service.
Executive Board Member for the Environment Cllr Hazel Evans said: “Residents can apply for fortnightly collections of garden waste between March and November for a modest fee.
“If you do not have much garden waste you could even join forces with a neighbour and share the cost.
“The council also sells compost bins which is the most environmentally-friendly and cost-effective ways of dealing with garden waste, and you can also take your garden waste to your nearest recycling centre where it can be disposed of free of charge.”
Residents are provided with a 240litre wheeled bin and can either choose to pay in instalments by Direct Debit which costs £51.40; or pay in full when they sign up and receive a 15% discount reducing the cost to £44.
The season ends on the week ending November 27.
All garden waste in Carmarthenshire, whether it is collected from the kerbside or disposed of at a recycling centre, is taken to a central composting facility at Nantycaws, Carmarthen, where it is turned into compost to be reused. It is available to buy from the recycling centres at Trostre (Llanelli), Wernddu (Ammanford) Nantycaws (Carmarthen) and Whitland.
