Everything that needs to be done will be done, to protect communities in west Wales in light of the Coronavirus pandemic say health and social care leaders.

The Chair of Hywel Dda University Health Board and the Leaders of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire County Councils have said they will stand ‘shoulder to shoulder’ to ensure a co-ordinated and pragmatic approach is taken.

This will include actively exploring all mechanisms to assist provisions of essential public services and put the needs of the most vulnerable at the forefront of decision making and joint working.

Chair of Hywel Dda University Health Board Maria Battle, Leader of Carmarthenshire County Council Emlyn Dole, Leader of Ceredigion County Council Ellen ap Gwynn and Leader of Pembrokeshire County Council David Simpson said in a joint statement: “For most people who contract COVID-19 the symptoms will be mild and likely a continuous cough, and/or high temperature. However, it is clear that the disease is more serious for people with complicated existing conditions and that this will challenge both the health sector and social care. Disruption to everyday life will also present its unique challenges to our wider services and our workforce.

“We are fortunate in west Wales to have close knit communities and we know our residents will rise to the challenge of looking after themselves and others, and for that we are so thankful.

“It will fall to us to ensure that no barriers operate between public services and we will stand shoulder to shoulder and instruct our leadership and operational teams to work together and rise above usual organisational boundaries if it is in the public interest to do so.”

The agencies are already meeting regularly in their joint response to this situation and also working through the formal Dyfed Powys Local Resilience Forum. The LRF is a multi-agency partnerships made up of representatives from public services including police, other emergency services, local authorities, the NHS, Natural Resources Wales and others.

Arrangements are being made across health and social care in the three local authorities to provide extra accommodation for residents when that is deemed necessary.

To protect yourself and other people:

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • always wash your hands when you get home or into work
  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards
  • try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
  • do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

Gweithio mewn partneriaeth i amddiffyn ein cymunedau

Bydd popeth sydd angen ei wneud yn cael ei wneud, er mwyn amddiffyn cymunedau yng ngorllewin Cymru yng ngoleuni’r pandemig coronafirws meddai arweinwyr iechyd a gofal cymdeithasol.

Mae Cadeirydd Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Hywel Dda ac Arweinwyr Cynghorau Sir Caerfyrddin, Ceredigion a Sir Benfro wedi dweud y byddant yn sefyll ‘ysgwydd wrth ysgwydd’ i sicrhau bod dull cydgysylltiedig a phragmatig yn cael ei gymryd.

Bydd hyn yn cynnwys mynd ati i archwilio pob mecanwaith i gynorthwyo darpariaethau gwasanaethau cyhoeddus hanfodol a rhoi anghenion y rhai mwyaf agored i niwed ar flaen y gad wrth wneud penderfyniadau a chydweithio.

Dywedodd Cadeirydd Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Hywel Dda Maria Battle, Arweinydd Cyngor Sir Caerfyrddin Emlyn Dole, Arweinydd Cyngor Sir Ceredigion Ellen ap Gwynn ac Arweinydd Cyngor Sir Penfro David Simpson mewn datganiad ar y cyd:

“I’r mwyafrif o bobl sydd gyda COVID-19  bydd y symptomau’n ysgafn ac yn debygol o fod yn beswch parhaus, a / neu dymheredd uchel. Fodd bynnag, mae’n amlwg bod y clefyd yn fwy difrifol i bobl â chyflyrau cymhleth presennol ac y bydd hyn yn herio’r sector iechyd a gofal cymdeithasol. Bydd tarfu ar fywyd bob dydd hefyd yn cyflwyno ei heriau unigryw i’n gwasanaethau ehangach a’n gweithlu.

“Rydym yn ffodus yng ngorllewin Cymru i gael cymunedau clos ac rydym yn gwybod y bydd ein preswylwyr yn ymateb i’r her o edrych ar ôl eu hunain ac eraill, ac am hynny rydym mor ddiolchgar.

“Ein cyfrifoldeb ni fydd sicrhau nad oes unrhyw rwystrau yn gweithredu rhwng gwasanaethau cyhoeddus a byddwn yn sefyll ysgwydd wrth ysgwydd ac yn cyfarwyddo ein timau arweinyddiaeth a gweithredol i weithio gyda’n gilydd a chodi uwchlaw ffiniau sefydliadol arferol os yw hynny er budd y cyhoedd”

Mae’r asiantaethau eisoes yn cyfarfod yn rheolaidd yn eu hymateb ar y cyd i’r sefyllfa hon a hefyd yn gweithio trwy Fforwm Gwydnwch Lleol Dyfed Powys. Mae’n bartneriaethau amlasiantaethol sy’n cynnwys cynrychiolwyr o’r gwasanaethau cyhoeddus gan gynnwys yr heddlu, gwasanaethau brys eraill, awdurdodau lleol, y GIG, Adnoddau Naturiol Cymru ac eraill.

Gwneir trefniadau ar draws iechyd a gofal cymdeithasol yn y tri awdurdod lleol i ddarparu llety ychwanegol i breswylwyr pan fernir bod hynny’n angenrheidiol.

Atgoffir aelodau’r cyhoedd y gallant gael gwybodaeth a chyngor swyddogol am coronafirws gan https://phw.nhs.wales/coronavirus

I amddiffyn eich hun a phobl eraill:

• golchwch eich dwylo â sebon a dŵr yn aml – gwnewch hyn am o leiaf 20 eiliad
• golchwch eich dwylo bob amser pan gyrhaeddwch adref neu i’r gwaith
• defnyddio di heintydd dwylo os nad oes sebon a dŵr ar gael
• gorchuddiwch eich ceg a’ch trwyn gyda hances bapur neu’ch llawes (nid eich dwylo) pan fyddwch chi’n pesychu neu’n tisian
• rhowch hancesi wedi’u defnyddio yn y bin ar unwaith a golchwch eich dwylo wedyn
• ceisio osgoi cyswllt agos â phobl sy’n sâl
• peidiwch â chyffwrdd â’ch llygaid, eich trwyn na’ch ceg os nad yw’ch dwylo’n lân
