Neath Port Talbot Council has processed more than 1,900 applications and issued more than £22m of grants to local businesses to help deal with the impact of the coronavirus emergency.
The council is also reassuring businesses that it is continuing to process applications for those that are eligible but are yet to receive their grants.
The grants have been issued to businesses that qualify for the Welsh Government support which includes a £10,000 grant to businesses in receipt of Small Business Rates Relief, and a £25,000 grant to retail, leisure and hospitality businesses with a rateable value of between £12,001 and £51,000.
Plus, more than 550 retail, leisure and hospitality businesses in Neath Port Talbot have benefitted from a 100% business rates discount for 2020/21.
Councillor Carol Clement-Williams, Cabinet Member for Finance, said:
“These grants are vital to helping businesses in Neath Port Talbot to deal with the impact of COVID-19.
“This is why our staff have been working tirelessly to answer queries and process applications so we can get the money into the bank accounts of businesses as quickly as possible.
“We are also continuing to work hard to process the remaining applications.”
For those businesses who do not qualify for the grant, we’ve set up a dedicated webpage, www.npt.gov.uk/business-support , which outlines other sources of financial support. This includes information for those who are self-employed (including sole traders, partnerships and freelancers), charities and third sector organisations. Alternatively, you can email the Business Development Team on business@npt.gov.uk .
