Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council have been awarded ‘The Best in Wales for Community Engagement’ award by One Voice Wales.
One Voice Wales is recognised by Welsh Government as the national representative body for Community and Town Councils in Wales, providing a wide range of services to our 634 member councils representing approximately 8000 councillors. One Voice Wales mission statement is
“Working with local councils in Wales to shape places communities want to live in”
The award was planned to be presented at the fourth Innovative Practice Annual Awards Conference and Ceremony at Builth Wells, however, due to the COVID 19 crisis and Government restrictions put in place to address the national emergency, the event was cancelled.
Judging took place before the crisis and the Community Engagement Award was judged by Elle Henley-Herat Future Generations Commissioner Wales & Naureen Blanluet Co-production Network for Wales.
It was noted ‘Pembrey & Burry Port Council is committed to real and effective engagement with the community. It has embarked on a programme designed to establish multi channels of communication with the residents and a structure which enables the community to fully participate in the decisions the Council takes.’
