Cllr Peter Read, the Leader of the Welsh National Party Group on Gwynedd Council has launched a petition to scrap LDPs in Wales.
Peter Read said,
â The WNP wants local housing to be for local people. This is fundamental for us. Far too many second homes in Gwynedd have pushed up the price of housing here, with local people priced out.Plaid Cymruâs Local Development Plan allows family homes to be converted into holiday homes. This has to change.
We must also enable our young people to live in our communities. To do this, we must build truly affordable housing and bring empty houses back into use.
The WNP thinks that Wales is far too centralised, with Cardiff deciding too much.We believe in local democracy and support local people being given a direct vote on local development plans through referenda. I urge everyone to sign and share our petition.â
The Petition reads as below:
We note:
Local Development Plans (LDPs) in Wales are unpopular, do not cater for local housing demand and are extremely damaging for the environment.Â
In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, there needs to be a total re-think on development in Wales. We call on the Welsh Government toÂ
- Scrap LDPs
- Empower local communities to decide on major planning issues through local referenda
- Introduce regional planning to cater for local housing demand transport and the environmentÂ
- Pass interim safeguarding legislation to protect greenfield sites and community assets after immediately scrapping LDPs
- Bring Wales’ long term empty housing stock back to life

ARWEINYDD GRWP CYNGOR GWYNEDD YN LANSIO DEISEB I SGRAPIO CDLlau
Mae’r Cynghorydd Peter Read, Arweinydd GrĹľp Y Blaid Genedlaethol ar Gyngor Gwynedd wedi lansio deiseb i gael gwared ar CDLlau yng Nghymru.
Meddai Peter Read,
âMae’r Blaid Genedlaethol eisiau i dai lleol fod ar gyfer pobl leol. Mae hyn yn fater sylfaenol i ni. Mae llawer gormod o ail gartrefi yng Ngwynedd sydd wedi codi prisiau tai yma, gyda phobl leol yn cael eu prisio allan oâr farchnad. Mae Cynllun Datblygu Lleol Plaid Cymru yn caniatĂĄu trosi cartrefi teulu yn dai haf. Rhaid i hyn newid.
“Rhaid inni hefyd alluogi ein pobl ifanc i fyw yn ein cymunedau. I wneud hyn, rhaid inni adeiladu tai gwirioneddol fforddiadwy a dod â thai gwag yn Ă´l i ddefnydd.
“Mae’r Blaid Genedlaethol o’r farn bod y drefn yng Nghymru yn llawer rhy ganolog, a gormod o benderfyniadau yn cael eu gwneud yng Nghaerdydd. Rydym yn credu mewn democratiaeth leol ac yn cefnogi rhoi pleidlais uniongyrchol i bobl leol gael penderfynu ar gynlluniau datblygu lleol trwy refferenda. Rwyân annog pawb i lofnodi a rhannu ein deiseb.”
Mae’r ddeiseb yn nodiâr canlynol:
Sgrapioâr CDLl
Nodwn:
Mae Cynlluniau Datblygu Lleol (CDLl) yng Nghymru yn amhoblogaidd, nid ydynt yn darparu ar gyfer y galw am dai lleol ac maent yn hynod niweidiol i’r amgylchedd.
Yn dilyn pandemig Cofid-19, mae angen meddwl oâr newydd mewn perthynas ââr maes cynllunio yng Nghymru. Galwn ar Lywodraeth Cymru i
Gael gwared ar Gynlluniau Datblygu Lleol
- Grymuso cymunedau lleol i benderfynu ar faterion cynllunio mawr trwy refferenda lleol
- Cyflwyno cynllunio rhanbarthol i ddarparu ar gyfer y galw am dai lleol, trafnidiaeth a’r amgylchedd
- Pasio deddfwriaeth dros dro i ddiogelu safleoedd caeau gwyrdd ac asedau cymunedol yn syth ar Ă´l dileu CDLlau
- Adnewyddu stoc tai gwag tymor hir Cymru.
