Martin Bellamy, CEO of This Is Gravity Ltd, says:

“It’s great to see the government recognising the parallels between infrastructure investment and a strong economic recovery. But, the prime minister’s ‘infrastructure revolution’ must be one that encompasses clean growth, the creation of green jobs and encourages the world’s most forward-thinking start-ups and unicorns to set up shop on our shores.

“If we’re to recover from Covid-19 without walking blissfully unaware into another, potentially far worse crisis – climate change – then Boris Johnson’s new deal must be green. The £900m allocation for ‘shovel ready’ local growth projects must be awarded to projects that will help meet net zero targets by 2050 – something the government is legally obliged to do.

“New infrastructure and upgrades to existing routes are also vital in ensuring that businesses, whether they be in the north or south of England, have access to local talent pools. And with the promise of talent, the opportunities for foreign direct investment in new sectors and new businesses will be significantly improved.”
