New to Netflix, The Old Guard is a movie based on a comic book. It depicts a story of four immortal warriors who have lived for centuries. Lead by Andy, the oldest of the immortals, she and the other three, Booker, Joe and Nikkie discover that after two hundred years, a new immortal, Nile has come into the fold. And now with a CEO named Merrick of a worldwide pharmaceutical company are hot on their trail, Andy and the others must find Nile and disappear back into the shadows. Unknown to the world. If Merrick along with the help of CIA agent Copley can find them, the future for these five immortals will be extremely bleak.

As I have not read the comic, I didn’t have a lot of information to go on. In fact, I had no idea that the comic existed. But after watching this, I am all the more excited to dive in and start reading. Andy, as a character was the most appealing in my eye. Not just because she’s played by Charlize Theron, but because she’s a total badass. She’s in every sense of the word, a one-woman army. And the fact that she wields an axe speaks to me even more since I have a passion for axes myself. “Maybe I was a Viking in a past life”, I don’t know.

I would definitely watch this The Old Guard more than five or six times. I would also highly recommend it to anyone if they wand a couple of hours of good quality action and I certainly give it a solid 8.5/10. There were a couple of flaws in the movie but nothing to seriously complain over.

Thanks for reading and stay safe out there.
