In response to Welsh Government’s announcement of £40m to support employment and training in Wales,  Shavanah Taj, Wales TUC General Secretary, said:

“We welcome Welsh Government’s commitment of a £40m package to support those looking to upskill in work or find a new job. We particularly welcome the funding pledged to ensure that 5,000 apprentices can start or continue their training. We know this will benefit many younger workers in particular, who’ve been disproportionality impacted by the economic crisis.

“We were also pleased to see that almost £9m has been pledged to help people to retrain and find new employment, including through the Wales Union Learning Fund. We look forward to working with Welsh Government on the detail of how we can deliver this.”
