Joint press release on behalf of NPT Council and Celtic Leisure
Celtic Leisure is set to reopen its leisure centres and swimming pools in Neath Port Talbot in a phased approach from Monday 10th August following today’s announcement by Welsh Government.
All leisure centres were closed in March in line with government restrictions to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
To ensure the centres can be reopened as safely as possible, facilities will be reintroduced in a phased approach starting with gyms, then studio-based fitness classes and finally swimming pools. Further facilities will be reintroduced in due course and in line with Welsh Government guidance.
A number of social distancing and hygiene measures have been introduced at all centres which includes increased spacing between gym equipment, new one-way systems and hand sanitiser stations.
The layouts of the gyms have been changed to enable customers to use the equipment at a safe distance from others. There will be a limit to the number of people allowed in the gym at any one time along with a time limit. Gym users will be asked to wipe down the equipment after they have used it.
The capacity of fitness classes will be reduced to ensure people can space out from each other while exercising. All the equipment and the area of exercise will be cleaned between classes. As a precaution all lockers and dry side changing rooms have been taken out of action and customers will be required to arrive dressed ready for their training session. Toilets however will be open.
All swimming pools will consist of wider lanes that will be limited to eight people per lane. Swimmers must follow the lane’s one-way system and no overtaking is allowed. Those who want to use the pool must arrive ‘swim-ready’ with your swimming costume under your clothing to enable to you to disrobe at poolside as changing facilities will not be available on entry. However showers will be available following your swim session. A date for the re-start of swimming lessons is yet to be finalised.
Pre-booking for the gym, swimming pool and fitness classes is essential and can be booked via the Celtic Leisure android and Apple app from Monday 3rd August 2020.

Our health suite at Neath Leisure Centre and our creches at Pontardawe Leisure Centre and Neath Sports Centres will remain closed for the time being.
It is anticipated that direct debits will not recommence until 1st September 2020 and customers will be contacted prior to this date. Further deferral options on direct debit collection will be given at that time. If you have any questions, please email info@celticleisure.org.
Richard Lewis, Chief Executive of Celtic Leisure, said: “Our aim is to let as many people as possible safely access the gyms, swimming pools and exercise classes that we operate.
“By re-opening our six sites, more of our residents will be able to be more active, more often with all the health advantages that that brings. We are hoping that we can gradually re-open our facilities in a phased manner which gives us a safe, controlled, and supervised health and fitness offer so that we can slowly re-build the use of our facilities.
“We are very much looking forward to welcoming customers back.”
Councillor Peter Rees, Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Culture, said:
“Celtic Leisure has been working incredibly hard behind the scenes to ensure it can reopen its facilities to customers as safely as possible. This includes introducing a number of new hygiene and social distancing measures at all of its centres and swimming pools.
“We know that people are eager to get back to using the leisure facilities to take advantage of its health and wellbeing benefits, and we are delighted that Celtic Leisure are able to announce their phased reopening dates.”

Datganiad ar y cyd i’r wasg ar ran Cyngor CPT a Celtic Leisure
Canolfannau hamdden a phyllau nofio Castell-nedd Port Talbot i ailagor
Mae Celtic Leisure yn bwriadu ailagor canolfannau hamdden a phyllau nofio dan ei reolaeth yng Nghastell-nedd Port Talbot, mewn modd cam wrth gam o ddydd Llun 10 Awst ymlaen, ar ôl i Lywodraeth Cymru wneud cyhoeddiad heddiw.
Caewyd pob canolfan hamdden ym mis Mawrth yn unol â chyfyngiadau’r llywodraeth er mwyn atal lledu coronafeirws.
Er mwyn sicrhau y gall y canolfannau gael ei hailagor mewn dull mor ddiogel â phosib, bydd cyfleusterau’n cael eu hailgyflwyno gam wrth gam, gan ddechrau gyda champfeydd, wedyn dosbarthiadau cadw’n heini a leolir mewn stiwdios, ac yn olaf y pyllau nofio. Ailgyflwynir rhagor o gyfleusterau maes o law ac yn unol â chanllawiau Llywodraeth Cymru.
Cyflwynwyd sawl mesur ymbellhau cymdeithasol a glanweithdra ymhob canolfan, gan gynnwys mwy o le rhwng offer yn y gampfa, systemau unffordd newydd a mannau i ddiheintio dwylo.
Newidiwyd sut y gosodir campfeydd er mwyn galluogi cwsmeriaid i ddefnyddio’r offer â phellter diogel rhyngddyn nhw a phobl eraill. Bydd cyfyngiad ar sawl person sy’n gallu bod yn y gampfa ar unrhyw adeg, ynghyd â chyfyngiad amser. Bydd gofyn i ddefnyddwyr y gampfa sychu’r offer ar ôl iddyn nhw ei ddefnyddio.
Bydd faint o le fydd ar gael mewn dosbarthiadau cadw’n heini’n lleihau hefyd, er mwyn sicrhau y gall pobl gadw digon o le rhyngddyn nhw a phobl eraill wrth iddyn nhw ymarfer. Bydd holl offer yr ardal ymarfer yn cael ei lanhau rhwng dosbarthiadau. Rhag ofn, ni fydd yr holl loceri ac ystafelloedd newid sych ar gael, a bydd gofyn i gwsmeriaid gyrraedd mewn dillad sy’n addas ar gyfer eu sesiwn hyfforddi. Bydd y toiledau ar agor, serch hynny.
Bydd pob pwll nofio’n cynnwys lonydd ehangach a fydd yn cael eu cyfyngu i wyth person mewn un lôn. Rhaid i nofwyr ddilyn system unffordd y lôn ac ni chaniateir goddiweddyd. Bydd angen i bawb sydd eisiau defnyddio’r pwll gyrraedd yn barod i nofio, gyda’r wisg nofio eisoes ymlaen o dan eich dillad, er mwyn i chi allu dadwisgo wrth ochr y pwll am na fydd cyfleusterau newid ar gael wrth i chi gyrraedd. Er hynny, bydd cawodydd ar gael ar ôl i chi nofio. Nid oes dyddiad wedi’i bennu eto ar gyfer ailddechrau cynnal gwersi nofio.
Mae’n hanfodol archebu ymlaen llaw ar gyfer y gampfa, y pwll nofio ac unrhyw ddosbarthiadau cadw’n heini, a gellir gwneud hynny drwy apiau Android ac Apple Celtic Leisure o ddydd Llun 3 Awst 2020 ymlaen.
Bydd cyfleusterau ymhob canolfan hamdden yn ailagor ar y dyddiadau canlynol:

Dydd Llun 10 Awst – Campfa a dosbarthiadau cadw’n heini

Ni fydd cyfleusterau bar a chaffi yn ein canolfannau’n ailagor fel rhan o’r dull agor gam wrth gam, ond bydd hyn yn dal i gael eu hystyried a chyhoeddir unrhyw newidiadau i hynny maes o law. Bydd ein swît iechyd yng Nghanolfan Hamdden Castell-nedd a’r meithrinfeydd yng Nghanolfan Hamdden Pontardawe a Chanolfan Chwaraeon Castell-nedd yn parhau ar gau am y tro.
Rhagwelir na fydd taliadau debyd uniongyrchol yn ailddechrau tan 1 Medi 2020, a byddwn yn cysylltu â chwsmeriaid cyn y dyddiad hwnnw. Bydd cyfle i gael dewis o opsiynau i ohirio taliadau debyd uniongyrchol bryd hynny. Os oes gennych unrhyw gwestiynau, gallwch e-bostio info@celticleisure.org os gwelwch yn dda.
Meddai Richard Lewis, Prif Weithredwr Celtic Leisure: “Ein nod yw gadael i gynifer o bobl â phosib gael mynediad diogel i’r campfeydd, y pyllau nofio a’r dosbarthiadau cadw’n heini a redir gennym.
“Drwy ailagor ein chwe safle, bydd modd i fwy o’n preswylwyr fod yn fwy heini, yn amlach, a manteisio ar yr holl fuddion iechyd sy’n dod yn sgil hynny. Ein gobaith yw gallu ailagor ein cyfleusterau’n raddol gam wrth gam, fydd yn rhoi cynnig iechyd a ffitrwydd diogel, dan reolaeth ac wedi’i oruchwylio, er mwyn i ni allu ailadeiladu ar faint o bobl sy’n defnyddio ein cyfleusterau.
“Rydyn ni’n edrych ymlaen yn fawr at groesawu cwsmeriaid yn ôl.”
Meddai’r Cynghorydd Peter Rees, Aelod Cabinet dros Addysg, Sgiliau a Diwylliant:
“Mae Celtic Leisure wedi bod yn gweithio’n eithriadol o galed yn y cefndir i sicrhau y gall ailagor ei adnoddau i gwsmeriaid mor ddiogel â phosib. Mae hyn yn cynnwys cyflwyno sawl mesur hylendid ac ymbellhau cymdeithasol ymhob un o’r canolfannau a phyllau nofio.
“Gwyddom fod pobl yn awyddus i ddod yn ôl i ddefnyddio’r cyfleusterau hamdden ac i fanteisio ar y budd iechyd a lles sy’n dod yn ei sgil, ac rydym ni wrth ein bodd fod Celtic Leisure yn gallu cyhoeddi’r dyddiadau ailagor gam wrth gam hyn.”
