- Cath and Trish climb Welsh Three Peaks for Action for Children in 24 hours
- Challenge part of Langland Bay Golf Club Captains’ Charity events
Sisters Cath McGrath and Trish Dooley have conquered the formidable Welsh Three Peaks of Pen y Fan, Cader Idris and Mount Snowdon for Action for Children in just one day (Friday 14th August). The leading children’s charity was chosen by Langland Bay Golf Club captains Ashley Isaac and Sue Joseph as their Captains’ Charity this year.
Club member, Cath McGrath, said: ‘Trish and I were delighted to be able to complete this amazing experience, scaling these epic Welsh mountains, together. It was very challenging indeed, but the weather was kind to us and made the experience even more breathtaking. We’re very proud to have achieved this for a charity that has such an important presence in the Swansea area. A huge thanks to all the club members, family and friends who sponsored us.”
The sisters have raised £1755 so far for Action for Children that runs disability short breaks, family support and community respite services in the city. Cath and Trish completed the challenge in 15 hours and walked eighteen and a half miles in total with their friends Ian and Lynne Bain.
Area Fundraising Manager for Action for Children in Wales, Nina Rice, said: ‘We were thrilled the Langland Bay Golf Club captains chose us as their charity of the year and to have Cath and Trish complete this tremendous challenge for us as part of the fundraising drive is fantastic.
‘The Covid-19 pandemic has put on an enormous strain on the charity as well as the children and young people we proudly serve so we are incredibly grateful to Cath and Trish and everyone who supported them. It really will make a difference to those in our communities who need it most.’
