Residents in Carmarthenshire are being encouraged to shop local and support market traders.

Llanelli and Carmarthen Markets is gradually increasing its numbers, in line with Government guidelines, so that more shoppers can be in the halls at any one time.

More stalls are also re-opening as traders begin to recover after months of largely being closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The toilets at Llanelli Indoor Market have also re-opened. Carmarthen Indoor Market toilets remain closed in line with social distancing guidelines. Anyone using the toilets will be expected to take heed of advice and signage.

Carmarthenshire County Council continues to support traders to safely get back to business and encourages shoppers to take advantage of what the market has to offer.

Shoppers are being reminded to adhere to the new guidelines when visiting the market and to act responsibly and consider others around.

The council’s executive board member responsible for markets, Cllr David Jenkins said: “We are pleased to be able to accommodate more shoppers in the market halls and hope that as many people as possible will support our traders as they recover from a very difficult time. The market has a fantastic range of fresh local produce and goods and all under one roof. Whilst we want you to enjoy your visit, please remember to adhere to the safety guidelines and consider others around. Coronavirus is still very much with us and we must do everything we can to help stop the spread and ensure a clean environment is maintained at all times.”
