Another close encounter at Ammanford Park on Saturday between Ammanford and Pontarddulais in a 35 overs friendly contest – part 2 if you like following on from last Saturday’s pulsating game. Both teams made changes for this fixture but none the less the edge to this fixture was still there for all to see.

The home team were invited to bat first having lost the toss.

Despite losing a couple of early wickets it was the experience of Rhys- Huw Davies with 46 and Elis Richards with 109 that helped the home team reach a total of 237 for 4 at the end of their allotted 35 overs.

Pontarddulais made a positive response in their chase but fell short of the Ammanford total despite losing a team member (Edwards) earlier in the Ammanford innings to an injured finger.

So for the second consecutive week running it was Ammanford who took the honours. Both teams can take great encouragement from the performance of their young cricketers in these competitive friendly fixtures.

Pontarddulais in reply to Ammanford’s total that the openers for Pontarddulais put on a 142 with Iestyn Rees making his maiden century (105)
