Hogan, 38, joined Glamorgan in 2012, and has picked up a remarkable 378 first-class wickets in just 98 games at an average of under 23, collecting five wickets in an innings 17 times and two 10-wicket match hauls. The seamer reached an impressive career landmark in the Bob Willis Trophy clash at Northampton earlier this year, as he took his 600th first-class victim.

In 44 List A games for Glamorgan, the Australian has taken 67 wickets, and is Glamorgan’s 3rdhighest T20 wicket taker of all time with 94.

He captained the County in 2018, and was named Glamorgan’s player of the year in his first two seasons at the Welsh county in 2013 and 2014.

On signing his extension, Hogan said: “I’m very happy to sign a new deal at the club.

“Age is just a number and it’s been well documented I started late so I feel like I’ve still got a few more years in me to perform for Glamorgan.

“I have a lot I still want to achieve in the game and one of those goals it to win a trophy. Everyone at the club is driven to do that and we have some very talented cricketers here.

“My ambition now is more to bring on the younger bowlers through and I feel we’re pretty close to that.”

Director of Cricket, Mark Wallace, added: “He’s been arguably one of our greatest ever bowlers. If there was a conversation about an all-time XI, he’d certainly be in it.

“He’s been a fantastic servant to the Club and him signing on for another year is great news.

“To have Michael both on the field doing his stuff, and off the field passing on his experience to the younger players is invaluable. It might say 39 on his birth certificate but he’s got a few more years left in him.”
