A podcast project by Oriel Myrddin Gallery in Carmarthen will be developed further thanks to funding of £10,000 from a national charity supporting museums and galleries across the UK.
The grant from Art Fund will ensure that ‘Oriel Everywhere’, which brought a moment of calm and mindfulness alongside music based on the sounds of nature to young people during lockdown, can continue.
The gallery will be using the funding to commission a series of bilingual creative musical podcasts in association with orchestral group – Ensemble Cymru. The gallery will also use the funding to purchase digital devices to create their own podcasts to build on the programme of talks and events the gallery already host.
It is hoped that a series of podcasts, which will be available for schools to use, will be released in the new year.
Executive board member for Culture, Sport and Tourism, Cllr Peter Hughes Griffiths, said: “Following a successful pilot of the ‘Oriel Everywhere’ podcast over the summer it’s great that the gallery has been successful in receiving this funding so they can continue to reach out to young people and tap in to their creativeness whilst listening to music.”
