Andrew RT Davies MS – the Shadow Minister for Health – described the admission by Public Health Wales that it does not hold or even receive information on transmission rates as “staggering”, and said:
“Let’s be clear: this is Public Health Wales, the body tasked to protect and improve health and wellbeing, and it does not receive figures on the transmission rates of Covid withing hospital settings.
“Just let that sink in, and when you have, I bet you’ll find it as staggering as I do. How on earth can PHW help monitor and deliver a response to the pandemic if it doesn’t have this information?
“This needs to be remedied immediately and the health minister must ensure this vital data and evidence is shared more widely between key public bodies, and importantly the Welsh public.”
