With the clocks going back on Sunday, the days are getting shorter and the winter drawing in – and the British Red Cross is calling on people who are feeling lonely and cut off to reach out and get help.
With coronavirus restrictions limiting people’s ability to see one another, the charity is calling on people to do one easy thing this winter:
- If you’re feeling lonely or worried about someone who is lonely, reach out and call the British Red Cross coronavirus support line on 0808 196 3651.
When you call, Red Cross volunteers will be able to help you in a number of ways – from simply being friendly and sympathetic and allowing you to express your feelings, to helping you find practical ways of tackling your loneliness.
If you or someone you know is already online but could do with a little self-help or the occasional group session, you can access free online resources, including digital classrooms and podcasts where others share their experiences of tackling loneliness.
If you are feeling lonely and would like to reach out please call the British Red Cross coronavirus support line on 0808 196 3651 or access our free online loneliness resources at www.redcross.org.uk/loneliness-resources
