The Clink launches its winter menu and supports the community via Clink@Home from HMP Brixton
The Clink Training Restaurant, operating from HMP Brixton, has announced this week its partnership with the Albrighton Community Fridge on London’s East Dulwich Estate as well as launching its winter menu for the Clink@Home delivery service for its customers.
Due to the success of the Clink@Home delivery service launched in July 2020, we have extended our delivery zone to homes within a ten-mile radius of HMP Brixton. Serving customers, a delicious range of dishes via a new online ordering service, where orders can be placed for deliveries each week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 10:00-17:00 with two-hour delivery slot confirmed on the day. Clink@Home has also teamed up with the Albrighton Community Fridge on London’s East Dulwich Estate, which provides food and other essentials for people who are struggling to feed themselves and their families. £10 buys a two-course meal for the Albrighton Community Fridge. A main dish and a dessert prepared by The Clink’s trainees at HMP Brixton, delivered to the Albrighton Fridge by the Clink@Home team.
Since we launched this on our site last week, we have already sold 35 two course meals to be donated to the community fridge which will be given away to people who are struggling to feed themselves and their families.
Choosing from starters, mains, sides and desserts plus a range of soft drinks and retail lines including Clink aprons, tea towels and cookbooks, orders come with a minimum £35 spend which includes personal delivery in a refrigerated van from The Clink team.
With starters from £3.95 and mains from £9.75, diners can enjoy popular Clink dishes such as sun-dried tomato and parmesan arancini with rocket pesto, Thai sea bream en papillote, potato, leek and Cornish Yarg pie with roast root vegetables, sweet potato katsu curry with steamed rice and sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce. The menu includes vegetarian and vegan dishes and all other allergen information is listed.

The new winter menu has been specially designed by our Chef trainers at Brixton, including Ellie Shaw, Clink Sous Chef Trainer this year’s winner of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs prestigious Young Chef of the Year 2020 competition.
Customers can heat up and serve the freshly prepared dishes at home, prepared in our kitchens at The Clink Restaurant, HMP Brixton. Our Chef trainers are supported by our students in training to create the menu, allowing us to help them to continue their training towards their City and Guilds National Vocational qualifications.
Our team at Brixton have been amazing, providing takeaway meals for HMP Brixton staff on duty during lockdown and also a take home facility for them via our Clink&Collect service, and they are all are looking forward to serving the public again through this initiative.’
The Clink operates restaurants in four prisons across England and Wales including Brixton and due to restrictions across the prison network, The Clink is unable to open its restaurants to the public due to the current lockdown.
By operating Clink@Home The Clink is able to continue its training programme. HMP Brixton staff have enjoyed the restaurants Clink&Collect service to support Brixton’s key workers during lockdown, providing the basis to launch Clink at Home for the public.
Clink students are training to gain their City and Guilds level 2 National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) in Food Preparation and Cookery in a real-life working environment getting them work ready for when they are released in order to gain fulltime employment.
All the food prepared in Clink kitchens, where possible is British, fresh, local and seasonal. The Clink only uses the finest ingredients, and everything is made from scratch.
Our vegetables, salad and eggs come from The Clink Gardens located at HMP Send where the women in training work towards gaining their City and Guilds NVQ level 2 in horticulture.

A recent report issued by The Charity details the investment of over £5m of philanthropic grants and donations to build its training restaurants and gardens in prison since opening its doors 10 years ago. The programme estimates it has created savings of £38m to the taxpayer during The Clink’s tenure through its targeted programme to reduce reoffending.
