- Festive French Toast
We honestly can’t think of a better way to start Christmas morning than with a make-ahead French toast recipe. You’ll soak thick slices of bread in a mixture of beaten eggs, milk and cinnamon, toast in a frying pan until fluffy on the inside and gloriously browned on the outside and serve with butter.
Jordan’s top tip: Our ultimate toasting tip is to use up your slightly stale bread. This prevents the toast from going soggy and gives your finished dish the perfect consistency.
Let your French toast soak a day before you plan on serving so that it absorbs all the delicious custardy goodness. Simply blend your liquid ingredients then allow the bread to soak up the mixture in the fridge overnight. Voila, your French toast is ready and waiting to be fried in the morning.

2. Fluffy American-style Pancakes
Is it breakfast, or is it dessert? Either way, we know what we want first thing Christmas morning. American-style pancakes make waking up early on Christmas Day worth it, pile high with lashings of crispy bacon and maple syrup for a dish the whole family will love.
Or if you’d prefer to really treat your sweet tooth you could always add a little (or a lot) of melted chocolate and banana.
Jordan’s top tip: Try to make your batter ahead of time and leave it to settle in the fridge overnight. This will give better results when frying and give you perfectly flippable pancakes!

3. Spiced Shakshuka With Feta & Crunchy Pitta
Shakshuka is by far the easiest way to impress your family at brunch. It’s mildly spicy, full of flavour, and has perfectly runny eggs. You’ll crack eggs in tomato sauce with red pepper, onion and spices, and serve with toasted pitta and feta cheese.
Jordan’s top tip: For a soft runny yolk, bake your eggs for 12-15 minutes or more depending on how you like your eggs, remove from the oven and let set before serving to guests.

4. Eggs Florentine with Hash browns
A delicious combination of fluffy English muffins, silky spinach, poached eggs and creamy Hollandaise sauce, this brunch dish makes a great Christmas treat for a loved one.
Switch the spinach for smoked salmon to create the equally indulgent Eggs Royale, or ham for a classic Eggs Benedict.
Jordan’s top tip: To help you get perfect poached eggs, use a really deep stockpot, full to the brim with simmering water.

5. Mini Pancake Cereal
If there ever was a way to enjoy pancakes, this is it! Mini Pancake Cereal is the ultimate new trend to hit the internet (thank you Instagram).
Every spoonful is filled with bites of crispy pancake, all slathered in butter and maple syrup to boot. Whatever topping you choose, whether it be maple syrup, berries, chocolate chips, banana slices or honey… you can’t go wrong!
Jordan’s top tip: If you are serving with golden syrup, why not try warming it and the plates too? This will keep your pancake hotter for longer.

6. Gousto Mince Pie Cinnamon Rolls
Start the day off right with a blast of seasonal flavours from these ooey, gooey cinnamon rolls slathered in browned butter and cream cheese frosting.
Because waking up to warm cinnamon rolls is the best gift of all, right?
Jordan’s top tip: This recipe is perfect to make ahead of time, as the double rising of the dough makes it a long but relaxing bake.
Using room temperature ingredients will keep the dough at the perfect temperature for optimal yeast activity. Plus, room temperature butter will also mix easier and more evenly into the dough.

7. Red Velvet Pancakes
Gousto’s gorgeously red pancakes are perfectly festive for the holidays and they are completely irresistible. Stack these drool-worthy pancakes high before drizzling a sinfully good cream cheese glaze on top.
Jordan’s top tip: If you are making pancakes ahead of time, have some greaseproof paper ready to separate the pancakes in your stack.
