Well done and thanks to pub landlady Tracey Gunn who had her head shaved to raise money for the chemotherapy units at Bronglais and Glangwili hospitals.

Tracey who, with husband Ian, has run the New Inn at Rhydlewis in Ceredigion for the past 22 years has raised £650 after getting her locks chopped off in the pub car park.

The pair regularly raise money for local charities and this time they wanted to help the chemo units in Aberystwyth and Carmarthen, particularly because family members and some of their customers had received treatment.

“The chemo unit staff do such good work. The care received is excellent. I wanted to help them by raising money so I decided to get my head shaved,” said Tracey, 56.

“During lockdown, like a lot of people, I was not able to have a hair cut so it grew quite long. I had been thinking of a charity head shave for years, so this was an opportunity not to be missed.”

Friend and mobile hairdresser Jane Hills did the shave for free and Tracey said she was very happy with the result.

Nicola Llewelyn, head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, said: “We are very grateful to Tracey for her great fundraising effort and we would like to say thank you to everyone who donated.

“Donations from our local communities are making a huge difference to the lives of NHS patients and staff in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.”
