SWP Statement – Update on serious RTC, Barry

South Wales Police is are continuing to investigate a road traffic collision, which happened at around 4.05am on Saturday 5th December 2020 on the A4050, Port Road East, Barry near to Pencoedtre High School and the traffic light junction with Pencoedtre Road.

The collision involved a silver coloured VW Passat CC which failed to stop at the scene.  A 53 year-old local man has now been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop after a road accident and perverting the course of justice and the VW Passat CC has been located and seized by police.  The man has been released under investigation.

South Wales Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision and who may have witnessed the silver VW Passat or the movements of the 16 year old boy.

Officers also want to speak to anyone who may have seen the silver Passat being driven in the Barry area between 04:00 hours and 04:20 hours that morning.

The investigation team thanks all those witnesses who have come forward so far with information and CCTV.

Officers are continuing to appeal for any CCTV or dash cam footage. Anyone with information should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 and quote the occurrence number 2000441801.
