Commenting on the latest mortality figures from the Office for National Statistics published today (December 15), Andrew RT Davies MS – the Shadow Health Minister – said:

“It’s plain to see that the areas in Wales with the highest current rates of death of people who have tested positive for Covid are the ones that would benefit most from the types of targeted interventions that Welsh Conservatives have repeatedly called for.

“And it makes the contents of the letter sent by the Secretary of State for Wales and the Health Secretary to the First Minister, in which they renewed the pledge from the UK Government to assist – as, and when, and however necessary – the devolved nations during this pandemic.

“It’s perhaps time for the First Minister, and his Health Minister, to accept that hand of support from across that invisible border from our friends in England.

“History, and the residents of Wales, may not judge them well if they don’t.”
