Stay safe this Christmas

Christmas will be very different this year for all of us and it’s not going to be easy, but with coronavirus cases rising we need to keep our families and loved ones safe now more than ever.

We understand people will want to celebrate the festivities especially after such a hugely challenging year but we must keep on protecting each other.

Coronavirus thrives on all of the things that bring us closer; the face to face catch ups, the cwtches, the kisses, where there are lots of people, limited space and poor ventilation.

The best present we can give this Christmas is helping friends and family stay safe.

Don’t invite coronavirus into your home.

The safest way to spend Christmas is with your own household. But if you choose to spend it with others, you must follow these steps between December 23 and 27:

  • you can form an exclusive ‘Christmas bubble’ composed of no more than three households
  • you can only be in one Christmas bubble
  • you cannot change your Christmas bubble
  • you can travel anywhere within the UK for the purposes of meeting your Christmas bubble

You should:

  • Try and make you bubble as small as possible
  • Reduce contacts 10 days beforehand (especially if there are vulnerable people in your bubble)
  • Keep 2m distance, wash your hands, wear a mask when needed
  • Plan ahead – think about space for seating, opening windows and cleaning products
  • Self isolate immediately if you develop Covid-19 symptoms and request a test
  • Think about what you can do and what you should be doing

You shouldn’t:

  • Pop ’round your neighbours or meet a friend for coffee in their home. Stop thinking ‘it’ll do no harm’ or ‘nobody will know’
  • Meet up with people outside your Christmas bubble
