Plaid Cymru Shadow Minister for Education, Sian Gwenllian MS said,
“The Welsh Government Cabinet needs to meet as soon as possible to look at evidence about the transmission of the new variant amongst children. If scientific advice says schools need to move to on line or blended learning, it is better for teachers and parents to know sooner rather than later to avoid yet another last minute scramble to make alternative arrangements. Hubs however need to be in place for vulnerable children and children of key workers.
“An immunisation programme for all school staff also needs to get underway with a timetable for roll out announced as soon as possible.
“If further disruption to education becomes inevitable because of the new variant and mounting numbers of cases, clear national guidance is needed including new guidance on improved safety measures.”
