Plaid Cymru MS Delyth Jewell has today urged the Welsh Government to bring forward its review of the current Covid-19 restrictions, due to be revised on Friday, and make an immediate announcement on their continuation.
The coronavirus situation in Wales has become more severe than during the peak of the first wave, and health boards are struggling to cope under the pressure. Once again many health boards are having to cut back on various health services, and intensive care units are admitting more patients than before.
Plaid Cymru MS Delyth Jewell is calling on the Welsh Government to bring forward their review and “make a public declaration today to give clarity to the public and reflect the gravity of the situation.”
Ms Jewell noted that both England and Scotland had made lockdown announcements yesterday, and that Welsh Government should also make clear that restrictions will remain in place in Wales.
Plaid Cymru Member of Senedd for South Wales East, Delyth Jewell said,
“There were two announcements yesterday â one for Scotland and one for England, and whilst Wales has been at alert level 4 since Christmas, we need the Welsh Government to bring forward their review to give clarity to the public and reflect the gravity of the situation.
“Confirmation must be given that Wales, too, is in lockdown for the foreseeable future. Confusion and lack of communication can harm public confidence and reduce adherence to restrictions, therefore action is needed immediately.”
