Welsh Conservative health spokesperson Andrew RT Davies MS has reacted to a document that shows 95 patients contracted Covid-19 while receiving treatment at Wrexham Maelor Hospital in November 2020 – up from five the preceding month, an increase of 1,900 percent.
Mr Davies said:
“The massive spike in cases at Wrexham Maelor Hospital is deeply concerning, and I dread to think what the figures for December will look like.
“Also, it seems that the lessons we were told would be learnt after other outbreaks in hospitals, including Wrexham Maelor in July, have not been.
“At the time, the Health Minister admitted that the situation could have been managed better, a classic understatement. So it’s now more imperative than ever that he gets a grip of this situation and launches an immediate investigation into the cause of this spike – and publishes the figures for all ‘healthcare-acquired’ Covid infections at hospitals in Wales.”
