Covid vaccination booking line struggling

Suzy Davies MS – the Shadow Minister for Education and Member for South Wales West – has written an urgent question to the Health Minister over the vaccination telephone booking line.

Constituents have contacted Mrs Davies saying that the line is not working, and that they have been told: “… the appointment process for booking a vaccination is being put on hold for the immediate future”.

The Minister yesterday (January 12) said that the line is operating.

Mrs Davies, who has written to the Health Minister, said:

“This is incredibly concerning as those who have had letters informing them that they need to call to book a vaccine slot have found they can’t.

“We’ve only just had the vaccination programme announced, are already lagging behind other UK nations in proportions of people receiving the vaccine, and now the telephone line is seemingly either down or incapable of coping with demand.

“The Minister must address this and report to Members and the people of Wales as a matter of great urgency before people here lose the hope they have.”
