Two rising acts in the world of Welsh music are confirmed to perform gigs at the Ffwrnes Theatre in Llanelli, which will be streamed to audiences online in the coming weeks.
It comes after the Carmarthenshire based theatre hosted another two popular Welsh language bands in December, with rock band Alffa taking to the stage and also a young 5-piece band, Gwilym, for online shows which were streamed on YouTube and Facebook. The gigs have proved popular with audiences at home that are missing live music, with the shows generating almost 6,000 views within 48 hours of being posted.
Hoping for a similar reaction when their online shows are broadcast are new wave punk rockers, Mellt and electro soul artist, Eädyth.
Three-piece band Mellt, originally from Aberystwyth, are first to perform as part of the ‘Live from the Ffwrnes’ series of digital shows this year, with their gig due to be streamed on Friday 22nd January, 8pm.
Rising star from Merthyr Vale, Eädyth, who is fast becoming a household name to listeners of BBC Radio Cymru and Radio Wales with her distinctive electro soul sound, will stream her digital show from the Ffwrnes to mark Welsh Music Day on Friday 5th February, 8pm.
Talking about the experience of recording her streamed gig, Eädyth said: “I had a great time at Ffwrnes recording my set, the team and facilities were amazing and it was such a chilled out vibe. It was really nice to have my first gig back here after the difficult year we’ve had, and to get back on stage again and perform was such a rush. Can’t wait to play here again!”
Both gigs are free to watch and will be streamed on the theatre’s Facebook, AM and YouTube channels. Register for your free ticket at www.theatrausirgar.co.uk and you’ll be emailed a link to watch the show before it goes live.
