Ashmole & Co are delighted to announce that Gwenllian Phillips has started working in the accountancy firm’s Cardigan office, whilst studying for her ACCA professional exams.
Gwenllian, from Cardigan, has joined the Ashmole & Co team as a Trainee Accountant after graduating from Aberystwyth University with a First in Accounting and Finance.
Karl Wilcox, Partner in Ashmole & Co’s Cardigan office said, “It is important as a profession that we help to train the next generation of accountants. Qualified staff members are the lifeblood for the future success of our rural accountancy firm. Covid19 has been an added pressure for anyone starting a new position but Gwenllian has taken on that extra challenge and is managing everything really well.”
Gwenllian sat her first ACCA exam on Strategic Business Reporting just before Christmas and found out last week that she passed.
As a part-qualified accountant, Gwenllian’s responsibilities include: VAT returns and preparing end of year accounts for local sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
Gwenllian said, “I am grateful to Ashmole and Co to give me this opportunity. I am enjoying working with local businesses and knowing that I am helping them with their needs. There is a lot to learn and remember with every set of accounts being different but that means that every day is different which makes the role really interesting. It hasn’t been easy starting a new job during the Covid19 restrictions, but the team have been really helpful and welcoming.”
Gwenllian, a fluent Welsh speaker, lives with her parents in Cardigan and in her spare time enjoys walking in the countryside around Ceredigion.
