Work has started on a new western gateway sign to welcome visitors into Carmarthen.
Ground investigation and some tree clearance has already been completed on the slip road just off the dual carriageway with piling works beginning this month.
Some traffic management will be in place to allow vehicles in and out of the site.
The new sign is part of a bigger scheme and is linked to the Morfa Wetlands project that started last year.
Works are due to be completed on the sign in the middle of March and the wetlands site late March.
Work is also underway at Morfa Wetlands to complete concrete pathways to allow walking in the wetlands, along with three bespoke benches and three information boards and way markers.
The project has been funded through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020.
Carmarthenshire County Council leader, Cllr Emlyn Dole said: “This new sign will strengthen the identity of Carmarthen and what it has to offer to visitors.”
