St David’s Day celebration events are a little different this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, we can still take part by staying at home and joining in the celebrations online with our feet up from the sofa.
Carmarthenshire Theatres are putting on a virtual concert from Ffwrnes Theatre with many local artists showcasing their talent at 7pm – we are treating our care home residents to a free screening!
Tickets for the concert are on also on sale to the public via Carmarthenshire Theatre’s website www.theatrausirgar.co.uk Those purchasing a ticket will receive a direct link to watch the show which will be streamed on the theatre’s website. The concert will be available to view via the link for three weeks following the release. Tickets are priced at £5 per household.
To mark the event, we will be lighting up County Hall red and green in the evening.
We are also supporting many other local events that are going on across the county including a photograph competition and a video showing how to make our nation’s favourite Welsh cakes
At midday you can join Carmarthen Town Council in singing the Welsh National Anthem Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau.
The council’s executive board member for culture, sport and tourism, Cllr Peter Hughes Griffiths said:
“It is disappointing that we can’t celebrate St David’s Day as we would like to due to the coronavirus, but we can still celebrate from the comfort of our homes. We and other organisations have worked hard to bring these events into our homes, so that we don’t miss out.
We hope as many people as possible will tune in and support all their efforts. It’s going to be a great day!”
