“Job creation and recovery from the pandemic are at the very heart of the UK Government’s budget”, said Welsh Conservative Senedd Leader Andrew RT Davies as he welcomed new details of Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s Budget, which will benefit all areas of Wales.
Mr Davies said:
“The whole country has been hit for six by the pandemic, but the Chancellor’s budget and investment of some £93 million will help drive job creation and economic growth from Holyhead to Port Talbot as we look to bounce back.”
Included in today’s Budget announcement are:
- £4.8 million for a new hydrogen hub in Holyhead to create high-skilled jobs and drive green transition.
- £58.7 million in funding will be brought forward over the next five years for faster investment in three City and Growth Deals, accelerating the creation of nearly 13,000 jobs.
- Neath Port Talbot to benefit from up to £30m funding for the Global Centre of Rail Excellence
Mr Davies said:
“The UK Government has sought to protect jobs at every turn in one of the most difficult times our country has ever seen, and has demonstrated the very best of Britain working together in the best interests of its people.
“We’re now looking ahead with optimism to an investment-led recovery as we look to rebuild Wales and the whole of the United Kingdom.”
