Welsh Conservative Senedd Leader – Andrew RT Davies MS – has challenged the First Minster to commit to a Wales-specific inquiry sooner rather than later.
Speaking in Plenary on the first anniversary of the first Covid death in Wales, Mr Davies pressed the question despite evasiveness by the First Minister to answer the questions, saying:
“For months, the First Minister and his Labour colleagues have been against taking a united, four-nation approach to combatting Covid, saying that Wales should go its own way.
“Today, however, Labour’s done a 180-degree turn and said it should be a four-nation inquiry, not the one that Wales and the Welsh Government needs to learn the specific lessons that will undoubtedly come out of it.
“I’m clear there should be a UK-wide inquiry and a Wales-specific inquiry. Welsh Conservatives would implement one after May’s election so we can learn vital lessons moving forward, help save lives and protect livelihoods.
“You have to wonder just what the Labour Party is running away from. I can sum it up in a word: responsibility.”
