A presentation ceremony was held on 15th March by the High Sheriffs Wales, working alongside The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) to award representatives of individuals and teams, to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of nursing staff at Hywel Dda University Health Board.
The ceremony, which was held virtually was attended by: Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Dyfed, Miss Sara Edwards, the Minister for Mental Health, Wellbeing and the Welsh Language, Eluned Morgan MS, Denise Llewelyn, MBE, FRCN, Board Member RCN, as well as Hywel Dda’s Chief Executive, Steve Moore, and Director of Nursing, Quality and Patient Experience, Mandy Rayani.
The Royal College of Nursing nominated seven representatives from Hywel Dda University Health Board to receive awards on behalf of themselves and colleagues as follows:
- Ann Griffiths (Steward and Learning Representative)
- Ann Murphy (Steward and Learning Representative)
- Sandra Watson (Steward)
- Yvonne Thomas (Steward and Learning Representative)
- Andrea Mills (Steward)
- Susan Morgan (Learning Representative)
- Tracy Asbridge (Steward)
Our Director of Nursing, Quality and Patient Experience, Mandy Rayani also nominated Assistant Director of Nursing, Sharon Daniel and the infection prevention and control team, and Assistant Director of Nursing and Quality Improvement Mandy Davies and the Command Centre from Hywel Dda University Health Board.
During the ceremony, High Sheriff Certificates of Special Recognition to RCN representatives were awarded virtually to all nominees. A sincere and heartfelt thanks was expressed to all by the High Sheriff, Lord Lieutenant and Minister as they declared that all NHS staff have been amazing and are owed a huge debt of gratitude.

They have worked tirelessly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to provide extraordinary service and care for our patients and this award ceremony has been a wonderful way to show our appreciation of the nursing profession during this unprecedented time.”
