A domestic abuse charity based in Swansea received a donation of £1,000 from Amazon’s Swansea Bay fulfilment centre to mark International Women’s Day.
Swansea Women’s Aid supports women, with or without children, who are victims to any form of domestic violence and abuse.
The charity provides an array of services including temporary accommodation for those seeking refuge, one to one support, counselling, homeopathy, empowerment workshops, support for sexually exploited women, a live chat helpline and support for children and young people. It also offers practical support and guidance on housing, health, benefits and legal procedures to help rebuild lives and self-esteem.
Speaking on the donation, Omer Kartal, Site Leader at Amazon in Swansea, said:
“We are proud to support Swansea Women’s Aid, a charity that does so much to support vulnerable women and children in Swansea. We hope this donation will offer a helping hand to the charity’s staff and volunteers and we commend them for their ongoing efforts to support our community.”
Kerry Jones from Swansea Women’s Aid added:
The donation was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities around its operating locations in the UK.
