The #CaptainTom100 challenge offers people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to raise vital funds, while at the same time celebrating the extraordinary life of Captain Tom and his phenomenal achievement of raising £38.9m for NHS Charities Together a year ago.

That event is the Captain Tom 100 and between Friday, 30th April and Monday, 3rd May, Captain Tom’s family is inviting people to choose any activity that involves the number 100 and to raise money for charity at the same time.

Hywel Dda Health Charities is proud to be inviting its supporters to take part to raise money to make a positive difference to the health, wellbeing and experience of NHS patients and staff in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.

You could climb 100 stairs, run for 100 minutes, plant 100 seeds, do a 100-minute silence, walk 100 laps of your garden, run a virtual exercise class for 100 people, pick up 100 pieces of rubbish, the list is endless. You could also pledge to raise £100.

By supporting Hywel Dda Health Charities, any money raised will make a huge difference to NHS patients and staff in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.

Captain Tom’s daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore, said: “We are so grateful for the incredible support we have received since my father started his record-breaking fundraising walk and that his message of hope was shared with the world. Captain Tom was very proud to be able to leave behind the growing legacy of his Foundation.

“We know he would love the idea of inviting everyone to get involved and share their Captain Tom 100 so that together we can ensure ‘Tomorrow will be a good day’. We look forward to celebrating with you on what would have been his 101st birthday weekend – it’s going to be fun!”

Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, Nicola Llewelyn said: “We are thrilled to be involved in this fantastic charity weekend, to mark what would have been Captain Sir Tom Moore’s 101st birthday.

“His 100 laps of his garden a year ago captured the heart of the nation and raised a phenomenal £38.9m for NHS Charities Together.

“Hywel Dda Health Charities has received and continues to receive monies from the fund and has been able to provide patients with hundreds of goods to brighten their hospital stay and help keep them in touch with loved ones. We have also been able to give our NHS staff many new items for their rest areas and for their wellbeing.

“We would love it if people could get involved in this special bank holiday 100 challenge and raise funds to help us carry on supporting the local NHS.

“Please remember to follow government guidelines on exercise and social distancing – and good luck everyone.”
