The Cardigan Town Mayor Cllr Clive Davies has officially opened the new HQ of Welsh green-tech company Harvst.

The Mayor said: “I’m delighted to welcome another local business into the heart of our thriving community. Harvst is a superb and brilliant example of a business within Cardigan succeeding and growing through innovation and ambition.”

The brainchild of two Cardigan-based entrepreneurs and garden enthusiasts – Rik Sellwood and Chris Tanner – Harvst, offers a range of smart, self-watering, climate controlled mini greenhouses. Since its inception just over a year ago, the green-tech business has outgrown its former premises.  The new Harvst HQ, located in Pwllhai in the centre of Cardigan offers a dedicated space to design, manufacture and sell its fully automated and app-connected gardening kit, as well as accommodate its growing team. The company also plans to open an on-site education centre to encourage school and community groups to get growing and be more self-sufficient.

About the move, Rik Sellwood commented: “We are fortunate to be based in a part of the country that is burgeoning start-ups.  There’s a real sense of energy about Cardigan and for us, being centrally located – and visible – within such a thriving community, is key to our business.  We’re looking forward to working with our fellow neighbours and to forging strong local networks enabling us to all grow together.”
