A local welsh firm celebrates their third year in business, with increased profits, doubled headcount and service expansion. Whilst the small business sector across the UK has been significantly impacted by COVID-19, both demand and profits have boomed for Swansea-based tree surgeons, The Arb Team.

In what has been their most profitable year to date, a heightened demand for specialist tree surgery has seen the business grow exponentially, and today, Managing Director, Mr Jack Thomas, says the future of the arboricultural firm is looking brighter than ever.

“Just a year ago today, we could never have anticipated how the global pandemic might affect us. Recent events have certainly been unpredictable, but nature is too, and really, that has always been the lifeblood of our business. Over the last twelve months, we’ve been fortunate enough to have received several new contracts and tenders and feel incredibly lucky to be thriving in such turbulent times.”

Testament to their incredible year of growth, in a recent publication by Horticulture Week, The Arb Team were listed as one of the ‘Top 30 UK Arboricultural Businesses’ with an estimated annual turnover of over £500,000. Mr Thomas says it was the highlight of the year to be recognised and accredited for their contribution within the tree surgery industry.

Whilst the demand for garden renovations and grounds maintenance continues to grow, The Arb Team also provide a range of other specialist services, including expert stump removal and operated access hire. During the summer months of 2020, The Arb Team were on hand to support community first-aid charity, St John’s Ambulance, by installing new communication equipment with the assistance of their top-quality 19m Spider lift – a recent addition to their growing fleet of machinery.

Other mentionable business endeavours include the firm’s established relationship with the National Botanic Garden of Wales, and various contracts with local authorities and councils throughout South Wales. Mr Thomas says; “We’re proud to be trusted by so many to carry out complex tree surgery operations and other specialist services, safely and efficiently. We’ve invested in our teams, training and equipment so we can continue to uphold our respected reputation within the aboricultural industry.”

Over the last twelve months, significant financial investments have been made to ensure The Arb Team can confidently offer the best range of machinery and equipment for all projects and jobs undertaken. With investments contributing to over £120,000 worth of equipment, with machines including a new timber lifting mini digger, a Forst 8 inch chipper and the company’s latest cherry picker, The Arb Team now certainly boast an impressive fleet.

As they move into another year of business, plans are in place for further expansion as completion looks certain for a large scale contract. Of course, this means opportunities for future employment are also firmly on the agenda. Today, The Arb Team operate in several areas across South Wales, including Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Llanelli, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.

While business continues to flourish, The Arb Team are keen to hear from any skilled and experienced climbers and tree surgeons who might be interested in joining their dynamic team.
