Mountain Mattie Denman has followed up last year’s Pen y Fan virtual climb by taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge on her drive raising £150 for Action for Children.
Mattie (8), from Pembrey, was driven by her desire to help the 1 in 3 children supported by Action for Children who suffer emotional worries. She said: ‘My Mammy works for Action for Children and I wanted to help as well because lots of families need help and children have many emotional worries. We still exercise every day walking up and down our drive and I wanted to do the equivalent of climbing the 3 Peaks. I did it during April and I’m really happy I raised money for people who really need it.’
The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales, and the total walking distance is 23 miles.
Proud mum and family support practitioner for Action for Children, Sian, added: ‘Mattie loves her walking and equally passionate about helping children less fortunate than her. It’s takes an awful lot of commitment to walk such a distance on top of everything she does in her life. We’re very proud of her, she’s an inspiration to the whole family.’
