As Action for Children marks Mental Health Awareness Week (10 – 16 May), the leading children’s charity is announcing the rollout of its innovative Guide Digital mental health literacy programme in Powys.

Professionals and volunteers working with young people across Powys will have access to free Guide Digital training that is shown to improve mental health knowledge, reduce stigma and support young people to increase help-seeking behaviours. Funding has been secured through Arwain’s LEADER Programme in Powys to provide 500 places on The Guide Digital – Mental Health Literacy for Powys Community initiative.

Developed in Canada, Chris Dunne oversaw the establishment of the Guide in Wales for Action for Children and said: ‘We’re delighted Arwain has funded Guide Digital until December this year, giving access to this critical tool in improving mental health literacy for our young people in Powys.

‘This programme is proven to increase mental health literacy, challenge stigma and support our young people to be better informed when confronting these issues. At a time when our mental health is being challenged like never before, this is a great opportunity to access this excellent course for free and give the young people and ourselves the tools we all need to build knowledge and resilience. As a proud Powys resident, it’s great to see the county leading the way to become the first mental health literate community in Wales.’
