Green Gathering Festival

Recommended by The Guardian in its top ten pick of arts festivals for 2021, The Green Gathering returns to Chepstow from 29th July – 1st August with an eclectic mix of activities, education and entertainment to suit all tastes and ages.

If you need a good laugh (and who doesn’t?) why not take part in our Sock Wrestling matches……yes really, brought to you by The International Sock Wrestling Associated Society – TISWAS or seek out The Magnificent AKs a cappella men’s singing group with their deep Georgian-inspired harmonies and serious silliness.

In response to current conditions we’re providing more spacious and outdoor arenas across our event, including expanding our exciting programme of walk-about and outdoor performance. Look out for Pilgrims of the Liminal, a trail of sound pieces leading to an open-air sanctuary with live, interactive performance based on the theme of pilgrimage and exploration or go on an adventure with wonderful trash pirates Mango Bandits, to find all the shiny booty around the festival.

This year’s line-up includes riotous party music from female led folk-alt-rock band Holy Moly and The Crackers, festival favourites 3 Daft Monkeys, sweet-voiced Cardiff-based singer songwriter Siobhan McCrudden and returning having ‘smashed it’ in 2019, Mobius Loop with their unique mesmerising sound and She, Robot vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. And on the Raconteurs’ Delight stage, poetry and alternative comedy from Jonny Fluffypunk, musical cabaret duo Fossilheads and Octopus Odyssey, a charismatic performer with a taste for the surreal.

Spend a relaxing afternoon in our craft area, shaded by magnificent trees, where you will find lots of opportunities to try your hand at traditional and eco-friendly arts and crafts.  For families, the kid’s area and teen space will delight and amaze young festival-goers with a full programme of age-appropriate entertainment, activity and fun.

Blow the cobwebs away at the silent disco or take a dance workshop, listen to a diverse range of lectures and talks, browse art installations, learn about permaculture and alternative technology and visit the Hill Village where you can have a go at cooking on a solar stove and learn to live sustainably on the land.

“A no-brainer for a stay-cation with an awesome twist” – A Pleasant Chaos 2018

“Beyond Hedonism, The Green Gathering is a place to party, then wake up the next morning and put the world to rights with your new mates from the night before! Join us, share wisdom and skills, find friends old and new, weave and weld and tell stories. Be inspired. Take the festival spirit home with you…”
