EAC to hear from water companies and industry experts on fatbergs and sustainable drainage

In the third evidence session of its Water Quality in Rivers inquiry, the Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) will hear from those working in the planning, policy and practice of sustainable drainage systems. MPs will explore how to retrofit sustainable drainage, how they should best be maintained, and who should be responsible.

In the second panel, the Committee will hear from those in the water industry about the impact of highways pollution, unflushable products and fats, oils and greases (FOG). Likely topics of discussion will include the problem of ‘fatbergs’, wet wipes and other plastic sanitary products, as well as investment in nature-based drainage and water treatment solutions.
